About us
The Van Dongen Transport Group was established in 1902. From there it has grown from a regional transport company into an international transport operator, which specialises in refrigerated conveyance. At present, the management comprises the fourth generation of Van Dongens.
The company’s growth was made possible by the sound entrepreneurship of the Van Dongen family. Van Dongen Transport was one of the first transport companies to start transporting to and from Spain and Portugal after entry of these countries into the EEC in 1982.
By taking over other transport companies with routes to specific countries, the Van Dongen Transport Group was able to expand its services to France, England, Ireland, Italy, Eastern Europe and the Scandinavian countries.
In 2005 the Van Dongen Transport Group was taken over by the English company Gist Limited. The takeover took place with consideration for the future, as a safeguard for the company’s continued existence. Both management and policies have remained unchanged. In fact, the takeover provided the Van Dongen Transport Group with opportunities to modernise and expand.
For more than 100 years, the Van Dongen Transport Group has been a family business. Care for and attention to both the company’s staff and society at large continue to be a central focus.
Employees at the Van Dongen Transport Group develop and maintain their knowledge and skills by participating in various courses and training. The Van Dongen Transport Group is therefore always ideally placed to anticipate the client’s wishes. Planners, mechanics, drivers and the people behind the scenes work closely together to ensure that produce is delivered to its destination on time, safely and with the utmost care and attention.
Fruit Forwarders Europe
Since june 2010 Van Dongen Transport has a close cooperation with Fruit Forwarders Europe.
FFE takes care of the world wide logistics of overseas perishable products, including container transport, documentation and clearance. FFE can also store your product at different temperatures and has 2500 pallet spaces for storage available.
